Updates

Just a quick update regarding past events and the current status of the Rayne Family.

Two weekends held the Rummage Sale Fundraiser.  The weather for those two days were very cold and sometimes wet, but could have been worse.  Amy Wood, did a fantastic job organizing these two days and manning the sale.  Many folks helped with set up and clean-up.  Thank you all for making this even a success.  Not a lot of money was procurred by these two events, but every little bit helps.

The Chili Cook-off, again, organized by Amy Wood was really fun!!  Lots of families brought delicious chili’s for all who attended to vote upon.  Such amazing treats to the palate.  Out of 16 Entires, two were the top!!  Surprise, surprise!!  Number One Chili was created by 14 year old Bryden Kutz!!!  A vegatarian chili, that was outrageously yummy!!!  Coming Close, in the Number Two position was young Aaron Wood’s Meat Chili!  This youngesters creation was delectable!!

We are so thankful to all those who entered their chili recipes.  Amy Wood, was blessed with many folks to help create side dishes, clean-up, set up and more!!  Baskets for raffling were fantastic and it is my understanding, Rose Antizzo helped organize those for the event.  Great Job!!

We were all honored by the musical entertainment by VooDoo Highway!!!!  They rocked all night long with us.  I have even heard there was a special drumming session with a local African Drummer, whom joined the event.  Apparently, it was a really great evening of fun, dancing, and good eats!

This event helped to pay off some personal debts locally.  This helps ease tension between suppliers they often rely upon to keep their home running smoothly.  Thank you everyone for joining us and helping a family in need.

Currently, November 7th, Jacqui and Robert Rayne have attended court sessions regarding the future of their home.  Things are still up in the air as to how to the Raynes keeping their home, but we have much better hopes for their remaining in their home.  Many people have pitched in on Paypal and snail mail and personally, so that they have phone, electricity, fuel, and such for the moment.  We are incredibly thankful to all that have given their time and efforts and money.  Jacqui and Robert have been overcome by the amount of compassion and love they have received.  They are very Blessed.

Day to day is still a struggle in the household to get everything done, but progress is happening.  Meals are still being received.  Social services are beginning to help with groceries and medical care for the family. Local friends help with organizing and cleaning, when Jacqui can muster the energy.  Chemo therapy is still occuring bi weekly.

Sadly, this week, the Raynes lost a dear animal companion.  Out of a bonded set of brothers, Fred, a Haflinger(sp?) Horse , was hit by a car.  The damage to the horse was determined untreatable and they had to “put the horse down”.  It has been incredibly sad for the family.  The costs for this incident are likely to place them in a serious bind, but that is not where the families focus is currently.  they are grieving and trying to help the other half of the brother set, Lucky, understand and grief.  The people driving the vehicle were uninjured but the car was damaged.

Keep them in your thoughts and give as much support as you can.  The winter holidays are upon us and I am sure this will be an especially difficult time for us all.  Continue to keep your hearts open and be generous with yourself and everyone else.

Thank you.
